Sampling Strategy

The study protocol requires two samples:

  1. LLP sample: all (or a representative sample of) undergraduate LLP participants
  2. Control sample: A demographically matched sample from the general residence hall population

You may survey a combined total of 5,000 students.

Institutions with fewer than 2,500 LLP students may elect to survey the entire population. If you have more than 2,500 LLP students, you may randomly select students to construct a representative sample.

Once the LLP sample is drawn, you may identify the demographic composition and select a control group matched by:

  • Gender
  • Race
  • Academic Standing

As a service to relieve participating institutions from this cumbersome process, CSS offers its expertise in developing statistically balanced, accurate sample frames.
